Nothing on this site is intended to replace professional mental health treatment, medical advice, or a therapeutic relationship. Reading content on this website, submitting a contact form, or sending an email does not create a therapist-client relationship between you and Ingrid Johnston, LMFT, or any clinician associated with this practice.

Professional Credentials & Licensing
Ingrid Johnston is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the State of Washington, licensed by the Washington State Department of Health. Her license number is LF61033631.
In accordance with Washington State law (RCW 18.225.100), clients are provided with a written disclosure statement at the start of treatment that includes information about professional education and training, therapeutic orientation, the proposed course of treatment, financial requirements, confidentiality and its exceptions, and the client's right to refuse or discontinue treatment at any time.
You may verify any Washington State health care provider's license through the Department of Health’s Provider Credential Search at doh.wa.gov, or by contacting the Department of Health at (360) 236-4700.
Scope of Services
This practice offers individual therapy, couples therapy, and specialized treatment for chronic pain through a mind-body framework. Services are grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), somatic and trauma-informed approaches, and Pain Reprocessing Therapy. The specific services, modalities, and approaches described on this website reflect the general scope of the practice and may not apply to every client or clinical situation.
The content on this website, including descriptions of therapeutic approaches, conditions treated, and potential outcomes, is informational. Individual results vary, and this practice does not guarantee specific outcomes from therapy. All therapeutic goals and treatment plans are developed collaboratively between the therapist and client based on the client's unique circumstances.
Telehealth Services
This practice provides therapy services via telehealth (secure video sessions) to clients located in Washington State. In accordance with Washington's Uniform Telehealth Act (RCW 18.134) and related statutes, a therapeutic relationship may be established through telehealth. Telehealth sessions are held using a HIPAA-compliant video platform.
Clients must be physically located in the State of Washington at the time of each session, as Ingrid Johnston is licensed to practice in Washington State. If you are located outside of Washington, services cannot be provided, and you will be referred to resources in your area.
While telehealth has been shown to be an effective mode of therapy delivery, there are some inherent limitations, including occasional technology disruptions and the reduced ability to observe certain nonverbal cues. These factors are discussed during the informed consent process before treatment begins. Telehealth services are provided in accordance with the same professional and ethical standards as in-person care.
Confidentiality & Its Limits
All information shared in the course of therapy is treated as confidential in accordance with Washington State law (RCW 18.225.105) and federal regulations including HIPAA. There are, however, specific legal exceptions to confidentiality that are required by law. These include, but are not limited to:
Mandated Reporting: Therapists in Washington State are required by law to report suspected abuse or neglect of children (RCW 26.44), vulnerable adults (RCW 74.34), or as otherwise required under RCW 71.05.
Risk of Harm: If a therapist reasonably believes that disclosure will avoid or minimize an imminent danger to the health or safety of the client or another individual, confidential information may be disclosed without the client's consent.
Court Orders & Subpoenas: Confidential information may be disclosed in response to a valid court order or legal proceeding as required by law.
Written Authorization: Information may be shared with the client's written consent, such as for coordination of care with another provider.
Detailed information about confidentiality and its exceptions is provided in the written disclosure statement shared with every client prior to beginning treatment.
A Note About Couples Therapy
In couples therapy, information disclosed by one partner during a joint session is generally considered known to both parties. This practice maintains a "no secrets" policy, which means information shared in individual communication with the therapist during the course of couples treatment may be brought into joint sessions when clinically appropriate. The specifics of this policy are discussed during the informed consent process before couples therapy begins.
HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices
This practice complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which sets standards for protecting the privacy and security of your health information. A full Notice of Privacy Practices is available upon request and is provided to all clients as part of the intake process. This notice describes how your health information may be used and disclosed and how you can access your records.
No Surprises Act & Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act (effective January 1, 2022), health care providers are required to give clients who are uninsured or who choose to self-pay a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for services.
Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate: You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your therapy services will cost. This estimate is based on information known at the time it is provided and includes the expected charges for items and services reasonably anticipated for your care.
The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. Actual charges may differ if your treatment needs change. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may dispute the bill. For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or the dispute resolution process, visit cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
Website Communications & Contact Forms
This website may include contact forms, email links, or scheduling tools. Any information submitted through these channels is not guaranteed to be secure or encrypted and should not be considered protected health information until a formal therapeutic relationship has been established and appropriate consent forms have been signed.
Please do not include sensitive personal health information in any email, contact form submission, or website communication. If you choose to communicate via email after establishing a therapeutic relationship, be aware that email is not a fully secure method of communication, and there are inherent risks to confidentiality with any electronic communication.
A response to your inquiry, whether by email, phone, or through a scheduling platform, does not constitute a therapeutic relationship.

This website may contain links to external websites, articles, or resources for informational purposes. These links are provided as a convenience, and their inclusion does not imply endorsement or responsibility for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party sites. Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made. Detailed fee policies, including cancellation and late cancellation policies, are outlined in the written practice policies provided during the intake process.
This practice is out-of-network with insurance. Superbills are available for clients who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance provider. Reimbursement rates are determined by your insurance plan and are not guaranteed by this practice.
Your Rights
As required under Washington State law, you have the right to choose the provider and treatment approach that best suits your needs. You are not obligated to continue treatment at any time, and you may request a referral to another provider. You have the right to refuse any treatment or therapeutic intervention, to access your records or request amendments to your records in accordance with applicable law, and to file a complaint with the Washington State Department of Health if you have concerns about the conduct of a licensed provider. Complaints can be filed online at doh.wa.gov or by calling (360) 236-4700.
